Carrageenan can be used as a clarifying agent in beer production. Beer contains some colloidal substances and some soluble proteins that can cause turbidity or precipitation in the beer, necessitating the addition of a clarifying agent. By utilizing the interaction between carrageenan and proteins, the addition of carrageenan allows these substances to rapidly coagulate and precipitate. Carrageenan, used as a beer wort clarifying agent, is processed from seaweed using methods for producing crude carrageenan, then pulverized into granules or powder. Adding carrageenan as a beer clarifying agent is simple to operate, has a short production cycle, is low-cost, and effectively stabilizes beer foam.
